Class Description

Lojong, or Tibetan mind training practices, enable us to stay strong and positive in how we face the challenges of life. Through training our minds, we can transform any negative circumstance into an opportunity to develop love, compassion and understanding.
— from the Berzin Archives.

This class on Mind Training or Lojong will focus on nine texts from the 43 contained in this new Collection on Mind Training translated by Geshe Thupten Jinpa. Geshe Legtsok has selected these specific texts from this collection for study, review and reflection.

In an era when Buddhist meditation is largely equated with simply calming the mind and developing mindfulness, this compendium of methods for training the mind gives a glimpse of the tremendous richness and depth of the Buddhist tradition for enhancing mental health and balance and realizing the full potential of consciousness in terms of wisdom and compassion.
— Dr. B. Allan Wallace

The classes will be on Zoom with three in-person days of meditation and reflection with Geshe Legtsok at Tse Chen Ling Center.

This program is offered in collaboration with Tse Chen Ling Center, San Francisco.

Guided by his teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and Khensur Lama Lhundrup, Geshe Tenzin Legtsok devoted decades to study and practice in the Tibetan Gelug tradition. Born in Virginia in 1971, he obtained a B.A. from Kenyon University in 1995. Asking himself, “What makes for the most happy and meaningful life?” compelled him to major in philosophy during college and led him to study Tibetan Buddhism.

Geshe-la was ordained by His Holiness in 2001. He trained first at Kopan and then at Sera Jey Monastery in India. He received his Geshe degree in 2023 and in 2025 completed his Tantric Degree at Gyumed Tantric College. He has a unique ability to bridge cultures and convey profound Buddhist teachings. His teaching emphasizes understanding and transforming the mind through practice.

Whether you are a long-time practitioner or just beginning to explore the Dharma, this is an opportunity to learn from a teacher whose depth of knowledge is matched by his warmth, humility, and insight.
