Wise Words: Creating Harmony through the Power of Speech
Ethical Living: Pathway to Happiness
10:00am – 12:00pm PDT
To create happiness for ourselves and others, we must
acknowledge the impact of our behavior on those around us and
on ourselves. At the most fundamental level, this means not
causing harm to others or to ourselves.
“Do not commit any unwholesome action. Engage in perfect wholesome action. Subdue one’s own mind. This is the teaching of the Buddha.”
—
Lama Zopa Rinpoche
In this session, Venerable Robina will guide us to understand
the significance of living ethically as taught by the
Buddha. She will point out that it's not merely because the
Buddha said so, but because we can arrive at this conclusion
through our own logical understanding and investigation.
“Abandoning Nonvirtue Is a Source of Happiness for You.”

Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Chanting the Names of Manjushri
1:30pm – 2:00pm PDT
Following the precious
advice from His Holiness the Dalai Lama
regarding practices for creating the causes for Lama Zopa
Rinpoche’s swift return, Venerable Robina will lead us in this
prayer for Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s swift return.
Wise Words: Creating Harmony through the Power of Speech
2:00pm – 4:00pm PDT
The Buddha taught the four virtues of right speech: abandoning
lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and idle chatter. While
we may grasp this concept intellectually, putting it into
practice often reveals the challenge of balancing between
saying whatever comes to mind and suppressing our unique
voice.
In this session, Venerable Robina will guide us on how and why
to take control of our speech. This crucial skill is essential
for establishing healthy relationships and creating a
harmonious society.
