Opportunity to Offer Service as Spiritual Program Coordinator

Full job description
Ocean of Compassion Buddhist Center (Gyalwa Gyatso) in Campbell, CA, is searching for a new volunteer Spiritual Program Coordinator (SPC).

OCBC is managed and run completely by volunteers. We have maintained a stable calendar of ongoing FPMT programs throughout the pandemic and are looking forward to opening up again to in-person and hybrid programs as well as continuing with our online programming.

Working alongside the Center Director and the Center Manager, the SPC establishes and implements the programming vision for the center, requests teachings, manages the programs, pujas and meditation sessions for the community.  The SPC facilitates student engagement for the serial programs, maintains rosters and sends out program reminders.

Ocean of Compassion has a solid history of sharing programming and working cooperatively with other FPMT Centers.

Candidates for SPC should:
  • Be familiar with and ideally devoted to Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
  • Be aligned with the mission statement of the FPMT.
  • Have a good background in the basic teachings of the Mahayana tradition and an established dharma practice.
  • Have enthusiasm for Dharma and a commitment to service as a practice.
  • Be well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with OCBC and its sponsored activities is optional, but preferred.
  • Be willing to make a 2 year commitment to the position.
  • Be ready to spend a minimum average of about 10 hours per week.
  • Be patient, open-minded and team-oriented.

Training and support in all aspects of this role will be provided.
