with Jon Landaw
Tuesday, February 16, 2021 6:00pm – 7:30pm PST (Pacific Standard Time) Register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0rc-6orDIoHdZpVcV-rdvqcjrPMgPENkpJ After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. This “Open House” evening on Zoom with Jon Landaw is an informal (and invaluable) opportunity for prospective students to get a feel for what this highly regarded, much loved and experienced teacher hopes to present as he embarks once again on offering to all who are interested the FPMT’s introductory level “Discovering Buddhism” series.
He has previously taught this entire series a total of four times over a ten-year period, but this will be the first time Jon will be teaching the entire Discovering Buddhism curriculum online via Zoom. Jon is always interested in deepening his own familiarity with the material that makes up this course and, like his main Guru, Lama Yeshe, is always seeking new and inventive ways to share this powerfully transformative material with others. Jon has been deeply inspired by Lama Yeshe’s repeated declaration, “The central subject matter of all the teachings that Buddha gave is not Buddhism itself. It is YOU!” In other words, the main focus of what Buddha taught is on recognizing what is going on in our own mind. Through understanding how the thoughts and feelings that impel us shape the world we experience, we can find effective ways of living a more fulfilling, resilient and freer way of life—one that is ultimately more beneficial for both ourselves and others. The Discovering Buddhism Zoom Open House will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm PST on Tuesday, Feb 16th. It will be an excellent opportunity to meet Jon, ask questions, and gain a general overview of the entire Discovering Buddhism program that will be presented weekly on Tuesdays, 6pm to 7:30pm, starting on February 23rd. Jon is also happy to receive and reply to emails sent to the following address: jonathanlandaw@gmail.com.

You are masterful at the art of "translation" when it comes to selecting the right rhetoric, analogies and, most of all, humorous anecdotes to illuminate complex ideas for beginners.

You bring such a deep understanding to your teaching, from your own spiritual path, which you share with us so freely.

We often remarked during class how fortunate we are to have a talented teacher and acclaimed author living and teaching right here in our community.
