with Ven. Gyalten Palmo and Margaret Kim
Tuesday, May 29th
1:00pm – 6:00pm
Saka Dawa is one of the four great holy days of the Tibetan calendar, commemorating Shakyamuni Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing into parinirvana.
It is a very powerful time to practice and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study. Any actions done during Saka Dawa, both auspicious and harmful, are multiplied in their power by 100 million times, as cited by Lama Zopa Rinpoche in the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic.
Feel free to come in and out at anytime on this special day. What matters is that you participate to generate merit on this auspicious day.
1:00-1:45pm: Kurukulla Practice (initiates only)
2:00-2:45pm: Chanting the Names of Manjushri w/ Margaret
3:00-4:30pm: Shakyamuni Buddha Purification Meditation Purification Practice w/ Ven. Palmo (Includes preliminary prayers, visualization, His mantra and reading about the Buddha's lives)
4:45-6:00pm: Golden Light Sutra Recitation w/ Margaret
7:00-9:00pm: Discovering Buddhism - Presenting the Path w/ Ven. Palmo
If you can't make it but would like to generate merit through the practice of generosity, please consider a financial donation towards the general funds. If you're interested in helping to materialize Rinpoche's wishes to Gold-Leaf our Buddha Statue, please help towards the $2,000 required. Thank you.
